Two men and the road ahead
Some moving jobs stay with you long after the truck is back in the yard. For our two-person Zagros Movers crew, this four-day trip from Kingston to Manitoba was one of them. There was the work ahead, the long road west, and a part of Canada that made the journey unforgettable.
Our Toronto-based team’s journey included Kingston, Highway 404, Highway 11 and Highway 17. As the busy southern Ontario roads gave way to the north, the landscape began to change. Buildings became fewer, the horizons opened up, and stretches of forest seemed to go on forever.
Through Ontario’s northern gateway
Passing through the gateway to the north felt like entering another world. Rock cuts rose beside the highway, lakes appeared between the trees, and the road wound through rugged hills and deep green forest. Around one bend, sunlight would catch the water; around the next, a new view would make us look again.
On the stretches toward Thunder Bay, Ontario’s beauty was hard to put into words. Vast water, rocky shorelines and mountain-like ridges gave the journey a sense of scale that photographs can only begin to capture. These were the views that made the kilometres memorable.

Wildlife along the way
The scenery was not the only thing we remember. Along the journey, we saw moose, wild turkeys and a bear—reminders that these northern roads run through the home of extraordinary wildlife. Those sightings became part of the story we brought back with us.
West to Manitoba
As the trip continued toward Manitoba, the changing landscape gave us a new view of the country we serve. Long-distance moving connects places that can feel worlds apart: the streets of Kingston, the forests and lakes of northern Ontario, and the open skies farther west.
For a two-person crew, a trip like this is about teamwork as much as distance. It takes patience, coordination and attention to the road to keep a long journey moving forward.
Day four: back home in Toronto
By day four, we were back in Toronto, the city Zagros Movers calls home. The round trip was complete, but the memories stayed with us: northern lakes, dramatic ridges, wildlife beside the route, and the quiet moments that make a long drive feel like more than work.
We had set out as two movers on a long-distance job. We returned with another story from the road—and a deeper appreciation for the beautiful country our work takes us through.
